The first-person mode in Fortnite has no confirmed release date. Despite Chapter 4 Season 2 being in full swing, the developers are yet to make an official announcement.

That said, players can expect the first-person mode to be released alongside the UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) or perhaps after the first major update this season (which should occur on either March 24 or 31).

On that note, there's no release date for UEFN either. While Tim Sweeney did hint that March 2023 would be the deadline for this release, there's no word on it yet.

Players will just have to wait until the end of March and hope it releases instead of getting delayed again.

Fortnite's first-person mode was already in-game, so why the delay?

Although the community did get a chance to try out the first-person mode, it was via a simple in-game glitch. This was not the official release version by any means. In fact, only those who owned the Save The World mode were able to access the settings to try out the mode.

Nevertheless, as soon as the glitch became widespread, it was patched by the developers. That said, while the new camera angle did work, it didn't function as expected. There were a lot of glitches, and certain things didn't work as intended.

Although it can be argued that the first-person mode was 'ready' when players 'glitched' into it, this is far from the truth. The number of bugs present sets the premise that a lot of work is still needed.

With such being the general assumption, the first-person mode, as aforementioned, will take some time before it gets added to the game.

Will there be separate playlists for the first-person mode in Fortnite?

Given that other games, such as Call of Duty, have a separate playlist for first-person and third-person modes, the developers may adopt a similar approach. However, since there are already two independent playlists in-game, adding a third and perhaps even a fourth one will make things confusing.

That said, the developers may opt for an alternative route and allow players to switch between first-person and third-person modes via settings. While this may lead to individual players facing issues while trying to build, gun play and other aspects of combat should be normal for the most part.

With the developers adding more features and mechanics such as 'Grinding' and 'Sniper Glint,' playing Fortnite in first-person mode will be nothing short of exciting. In fact, seeing the game from a first-person perspective will make everything feel new.

While adjusting to high mobility may be problematic at first, it will eventually become second nature. In many ways, the first-person mode in Fortnite will make the game feel akin to Apex Legends. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out.
