Epic Games recently celebrated Fortnitemares 2022, the annual Halloween festival, in its Battle Royale game. Every year, players eagerly await the exciting event to see the island filled with spooky decorations. It also comes with exciting cosmetics and themed challenges that make the Battle Royale game even more fun to play.

Unfortunately, Halloween 2022 was a bit of a letdown for Loopers. A viral tweet comparing past events with the most recent one shows how little effort Epic Games has put in. The island looked extremely dull, without many decorations. Players were extremely disappointed by this year's event as the Halloween vibes were completely missing from the island.

A comparison between Fortnite Halloween 2018 and 2022 shows the stark difference in the effort put in by Epic Games. In the earlier years, the entire island used to be covered with cobwebs, Jack-O-Lanterns, and spooky decorations. However, the 2022 event was nowhere close, with bare-minimum decorations across the island.

Fortnitemares 2022 left fans extremely disappointed

Halloween and Christmas are the two biggest holiday events in Epic's Battle Royale game. The entire island gets a complete makeover twice a year as players embrace the festive spirit. While the themed cosmetics and challenges are significant attractions, the events feel incomplete without the appropriate decorations.

Epic Games introduced the free Chrome Punk skin in the game for the Halloween 2022 event. Horde Rush was also brought back to celebrate the spooky festival, along with several Halloween-themed item shop skins, Escape Rooms, Zombies, and Zombie Chickens. Unfortunately, none of these were enough to make up for the bland-looking island, without the exciting decorations.

All OG players remember how skins and cosmetics were only a small part of the Halloween event. It was mostly the pumpkins, cobwebs, and even haunted POIs that made Fortnitemares really fun. Naturally, it makes a lot of sense for players to be disappointed with this year's event.

Several players shared their experiences of previous Halloween events and how they were a lot more exciting than the one that took place this year. In fact, some players believe that this was the worst event since the game was introduced back in 2017.

Players claim that Epic Games has become lazy with Fortnite events

There is an ongoing debate in the community about how the previous chapters were much better than the current ones. Players believe that the studio is focusing a lot more on collaborations and cosmetics rather than actual gameplay. The 2022 Halloween event is a case in point about how lazy Epic Games has become when it comes to such events.

Previously, there were significant map and POI changes within the season as well. There were several live events, and all of them were extremely interesting. There was more hype around the game than any other game out there. Unfortunately, it is not the same half a decade after the release of the Battle Royale game.
