Who is Jimmy Kirchdorfer? Everything about ISCO Industries' CEO who owns Valhalla Golf Course

Jimmy Kirchdorfer is more than a household name in the golf world, being one of the high-profile businessmen associated with the sport. This Friday, May 17, Kirchdorfer made headlines as the person who pulled Scottie Scheffler out of police custody after he was arrested on his way to the PGA Championship.

James "Jimmy" Kirchdorfer Jr. is the Chairman & CEO of ISCO Industries, Inc. It is a global customized piping solutions provider headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, that also works with a wide range of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) productions.

Kirchdorfer began working at ISCO as a summer intern while still in college. He is a graduate of the University of Miami, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business.

After graduating in the early 90s, Jimmy Kirchdorfer got a job at ISCO Industries as a sales representative. According to his Instagram profile, this was in 1997, and he has been associated with the company ever since.

Over time, Jimmy Kirchdorfer climbed through the different responsibilities within the company. He got promoted to be the general manager first and then to the president. In 2010, he was appointed to his current position as chairman and CEO.

During his career as an entrepreneur in the Louisville, Kentucky area, Jimmy Kirchdorfer received several professional awards. He received the Ernst & Young 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year for the Kentucky/Ohio region and was named one of the Most Admired CEOs by Louisville Business First Magazine in 2019.

He was inducted into the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame, 2023 class. He resides in Louisville with his wife Dana and two children, Jay and Emma.

Jimmy Kirchdorfer's connection with golf

Parallel to his work at ISCO Industries, Jimmy Kirchdorfer has been involved in a variety of community activities. He currently serves on the board of Impetus for a Better Louisville and the Catholic Education Foundation of Louisville Board of Directors.

Several of his key activities of this type are associated with golf. Kirchdorfer is a prime mover in several programs supporting youth golf development.

In 2020, he received the J.W. Janes Award for his contribution to the growth of amateur golf in Kentucky. He was inducted into the Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame a year later.

In 2014, he was inducted as a member of the Advisory Board of Valhalla Golf Club. Eight years later, in the company of three other partners, he purchased the facility, of which he is currently one of the owners.

Kirchdorfer is the chairman of the 2024 PGA Championship hosted by Valhalla Golf Club.

On Friday morning, the day of the second round of the event, Kirchdorfer took Scottie Scheffler out of jail and transported him to the course. Scheffler had been arrested for trying to overtake a police traffic stop, in a situation the player himself described as "a big misunderstanding."
