Moses Itauma capitalized on a massive opportunity to showcase his devastating knockout power.

May 18 represents a significant day in professional boxing history, as Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will determine the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. Before the must-see main event, various boxers look to utilize the added attention and make a statement on the undercard.

One of the fighters who already fought inside the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia is Moses Itauma. The 19-year-old English heavyweight entered Saturday's event with an 8-0 professional boxing record, including six wins by KO/TKO.

Itauma's latest opponent featured a step up in experience, as Ilja Mezencew previously held a record of 25-3. This time around, Mezencew couldn't overcome the power of the youngster, as the Englishman landed a counter right hook to secure a TKO win in round two.

Moses Itauma becomes third English fighter to emerge victorious during Fury vs Usyk undercard

Moses Itauma was the third English fighter to fight and emerge victorious during the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk undercard.

Firstly, Isaac Lowe of Lancashire was featured in the opening bout against Hasibullah Ahmadi. Lowe and Ahmadi each had their moments before the 'Westgate Warrior,' who represents Team Fury, emerged victorious by decision.

Next up was Mark Chamberlain who fought Joshua Wahab for the vacant WBC silver lightweight world title. Chamberlain wouldn't be denied as he secured a first-round TKO win against Wahab, extending his record to 16-0 (12 KO/TKOs).

The only English fighter left on the May 18 event is Fury. 'The Gypsy King' has several reasons to be extra motivated, including fans discrediting him after his last performance. In October 2023, Fury was knocked down by former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou before winning by split decision.

As for Usyk, the Ukrainian heavyweight is coming off a ninth-round knockout win against Daniel Dubois that featured slight controversy. The 37-year-old extended his record to 21-0 and now looks to take out Fury in a historic clash.
