Jake Paul's altercation with Floyd Mayweather has been dominating headlines and Belal Muhammad has now used it to troll fellow welterweight Colby Covington for his extended absence from the cage.

'Remember the Name' has put together a solid resume in the division and believes he should be next up for a shot at gold, despite being ranked #4 in the rankings. His most recent performance raised a lot of eyebrows in the weight class and arguably puts himself within touching distance of UFC gold.

After a video surfaced of Jake Paul running away from Floyd Mayweather and his entourage, Belal Muhammad took the opportunity to troll Colby Covington for the fighter's past controversies, saying:

"People laughing like they wouldn't have ran from 15 dudes... That's Miami, Colby got jumped by one guy there and has been running ever since."

Covington has been embroiled in a long-term feud with his former friend and teammate Jorge Masvidal. Their differences were thought to be settled when they shared a cage with one another last year, but that wasn't the case.

Following their five-round affair which ended in a 'Chaos' decision victory, 'Gamebred' assaulted the former interim welterweight champion in the streets of Miami. This led to the pair being caught up in legal matters, meaning Covington's whereabouts remain a mystery.

Despite the legal case, Masvidal is preparing to return to action and has a fight booked for next month. He will compete against the always-tough Gilbert Burns in a welterweight clash at UFC 287 on April 8.

Colby Covington's next fight: Who will welcome 'Chaos' back into the octagon?

Although he has only been out of competition for a year, the length of his hiatus is unknown and it seems fans, along with contenders in his division, are becoming restless.

In his absence from the cage, there have been a number of changes in his division, with the title even changing hands during his time away from the octagon. With Leon Edwards now enjoying his reign as champion, the NCAA Division I wrestler will likely fancy his chances at capturing undisputed gold.

When he returns, Colby Covington will have no trouble finding an opponent and alongside Belal Muhammad, Khamzat Chimaev and Shavkat Rakhmonov have called for fights with the controversial welterweight.
