UFC welterweight Colby Covington's next fight is far from being confirmed, but he has made a comeback on social media to cast his prediction for Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane.

In a video uploaded to his Instagram account, 'Chaos' addressed his followers with his trademark phrase and went on to hurl insults at 'Bones'.

Covington then predicted Gane would emerge victorious in the heavyweight title fight at UFC 285:

"Greetings, nerds and virgins. America's champ is back with America's pick of the week... We have UFC 285 coming to you live from Las Vegas with a heavyweight title fight. It's Ciryl Gane versus part-time fighter and full-time felon Jonny 'Bones' Jones. Last time Jonny threw down in Vegas, he was detained by the Las Vegas Police Department and caught another charge. But tonight, the only thing that Jon's catching are those big hands by Ciryl Gane... Oh yeah, f**k you, Jon! Scumbag!" said Colby Covington.

After a three-year break, Jones will finally return to action on March 4 and take on Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. The fight will mark 'Bones' debut in the heavyweight division, for which he has been preparing during his long hiatus.

Colby Covington next fight: 'Chaos' has not competed for a year

It has been a year since Colby Covington's last appearance in the UFC octagon. 'Chaos' was last seen in action in March 2022 when he took on friend-turned-foe Jorge Masvidal in a five-round grudge match at UFC 272.

Covington used his grappling prowess to neutralize Masvidal and ended up on the winning side after the 25-minute fight. The three judges scored the contest 49-46, 50-44, and 50-45 in favor of Covington.

But the bitter rivalry between the two welterweights did not end there. A few days after the event, 'Gamebred' ambushed Covington on the streets in Miami and left 'Chaos' with some injuries. Masvidal is now fighting a court case after Covington sued him for the damages.

Masvidal is set to return against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 but there seems to be no sign of Covington's comeback anytime soon.

The former title challenger's inactivity has irked many in the MMA community who believe that Covington should fight soon to protect his position in the UFC rankings. In an episode of the Weighing In podcast, broadcaster John McCarthy called 'Chaos' out for his lack of activity and called him a placeholder.

"You have guys that are just kind of placeholders like Colby Covington. Now I like Colby, but at some point you're going to have to defend that number 2 or number 1 spot. So that's gonna have to happen soon. You're coming up on a year time [since he last fought]."
