Israel Adesanya is heading into UFC 287 fight week with revenge on his mind. 'The Last Stylebender' has emerged as a modern-day MMA star who panders to a diverse audience due to his liberal thinking and progressive ideologies.

Adesanya has been vocal about the things that bother him and appears to be an adherent of the open-minded school of thought. It is therefore implausible to assume that the former UFC middleweight champion nurtures any homophobic views.

However, Israel Adesanya's recent tweet has led fans to believe that the 33-year-old is homophobic. Adesanya shared a Twitter thread that charted his journey in mixed martial arts. His caption appeared to be a subtle dig at the use of pronouns as linguistic tools for referring to people based on their perceived gender identity.

Adesanya wrote on Twitter:

"Catch up…cuz you gen z/zher forgot what ya had for breakfast lol."

Fight fans were naturally triggered by Adesanya's tweet. One fan wrote:

"Did you just assume my gender? This is low coming from you."

Another supporter claimed that members of Generation Z that Israel Adesanya slammed are in fact his fans. According to the fan, it is the 'boomer' generation of people born between 1946 and 1964 who hate on 'The Last Stylebender':

"Bruh gen z literally all your fanbase... its the boomers who hate you lmfao."

Yet another fan wrote:

"Gen z gotta be this dude's biggest fan base and he’s dissing them ?? Lol"

Israel Adesanya views the UFC 287 clash against Alex Pereira as an opportunity to remind people of his greatness

Israel Adesanya is focused solely on getting even with Alex Pereira ahead of their rematch at UFC 287 this weekend. Adesanya has previously lost three times to 'Poatan' in their multi-sport rivalry.

His long reign as a middleweight champion came to an end at UFC 281 when he was defeated by Pereira. With the former middleweight champion back in the chase for gold, UFC 287 has all the makings of a great showdown in this storied rivalry.

Previewing the upcoming clash in a recent interview on the DC & RC Show, Adesanya stated:

"F**k all the bulls**t. He and I know, f**k the fans, the reporters, all that. He and I know exactly what I can do to him. I know what he can do to me. Each time I've fought him, I'm always winning until I'm not. If it was like say he just beat my ass from f**king bell to bell then f**k it. I'd probably still be this confident, I'd still talk s**t, but it's not been the case."

Israel Adesanya continued:

"I'm always beating him, I'm always dominating him until he finds that way to win. That gives me a challenge. I love challenges. It gives me a challenge to rise to the occasion. Example - this weekend, it gives me an opportunity to remind and show people how great I am. I love being in this position because not everybody can be in this position and thrive. I can."
