The upcoming ONE welterweight submission grappling world title match of Tye Ruotolo against Magomed Abdulkadirov is somewhat of a double-edged sword for the youngest IBJJF world champion.

Ruotolo may have the opportunity to win a world title, but at the same time, the pressure will be at an all-time high.

This pressure to get the win over the Russian is rooted in his twin brother, Kade, who already won the ONE lightweight submission grappling world title. But the 20-year-old American is still confident ahead of the match because he has a great support system behind him, headed by Kade himself.

In an exclusive interview with The MMA Superfan, Tye said that he and Kade have been going back and forth with their experiences of fighting the best grapplers in the world’s largest martial arts organization. Additionally, he shared that his twin brother’s championship presence is a key component of his corner.

The Atos representative said:

“We’ve both been giving each other a lot of tips together because we've been experiencing all these fights. You know for for the first time, there's a lot to to experience with this one. It's not just like any other promotion. You know, there's a whole lot to it. It's starting to feel more normal and it's always nice to have my brother in the corner. So I’m ready to go.”

Before exchanging submission attempts with the 32-year-old Russian, who already ruled as a UWW World Grappling champion and a European ADCC Grappling champion, Ruotolo is fresh off a submission finish of another Russian in Dagi Arslanaliev at ONE Fight Night 13 in August 2023.

Prior to that submission victory over Arslanaliev, he also victimized Reinier De Ridder, Marat Gafuror, and Garry Tonon.

ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video will air live on US Primetime free of charge for existing Prime Video subscribers in North America.
