Submission grappling superstar Tye Ruotolo has found the perfect spot to stay out of trouble and focus on improving his craft ahead of his highly anticipated return at ONE Fight Night 16.

On Friday, November 3, in U.S. primetime, Ruotolo steps back inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, for a co-main event clash with Russian grappling standout Magomed Abdulkadirov. The winner will emerge as the promotion’s inaugural ONE welterweight submission grappling world champion.

Preparing for what could very well be the biggest match of his career thus far, Tye Ruotolo found one of the most secluded spots in the world, Costa Rica. It allows him to focus only on getting the job done in ‘The Land of Smiles.’

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt told ONE Championship:

“There’s not too much outside bad influence. Where we’re at, our town has two restaurants. It doesn’t have a gas station, barely a grocery store.
“You can’t get into trouble there. If you get into trouble there, it’s because you’re riding your motorcycle too fast and you run into a tree. It’s complete freedom.”

Tye Ruotolo is a perfect 4-0 under the ONE Championship banner, earning victories over some seriously impressive names, including Garry Tonon, Marat Gafurov, reigning ONE middleweight world champion Reinier de Ridder, and lightweight contender Dagi Arslanaliev.

If he can put away the two-time UWW grappling world champion, Magomed Abdulkadirov at ONE Fight Night 16, he’ll etch his name in the history books and stand tall alongside his brother, Kade Ruotolo. Kade already reigns as the ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion.

Will Ruotolo get the job done inside the Mecca of Muay Thai, or will Abdulkadirov’s signature Dagestani-style grappling be too much for the 20-year-old prodigy to handle?

Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America can catch all the action at ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video live in U.S. primetime on Friday, November 3.
