UFC welterweight contender takes hilarious jibe at "missing" Colby Covington

Colby Covington has been strangely quiet for almost an entire year since his feud with Jorge Masvidal took a nasty turn which ended in an altercation outside the cage, and Belal Muhammad has decided to call out the contender for his absence.

'Remember the Name' has been on fire inside the octagon and has made a strong case for himself to be inserted into the title picture, but it seems as though the grappler needs one more big win. A number of huge matchups potentially await the 34-year-old after his impressive showing against Sean Brady last time out.

In a hilarious post on social media, Belal Muhammad took aim at Colby Covington by photoshopping his head on a milk carton, in an obvious attempt to get a response from the top welterweight contender.

Covington put on a phenomenal display in his last fight, dominating Jorge Masvidal from the opening minute to the last. The cardio machine was firmly in the title picture prior to his hiatus and was on the verge of being placed in a potential number-one contender clash by the promotion.

According to Dana White, the UFC was planning on putting together a blockbuster fight between 'Chaos' and Khamzat Chimaev. The bout is set to headline the company's first card on ABC, but, unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be.

Belal Muhammad seems to be most eager to receive the next shot at UFC gold and has reportedly been calling for fights against top contenders, with Covington being the latest. His nine-fight unbeaten run has seen him score wins over Stephen Thompson, Vicente Luque, and Demian Maia.

Colby Covington's overwhelming presence in the welterweight division

Despite being 2-2 in his last four, Colby Covington is thought by many to be the second-best active welterweight in the world behind former 170lb king Kamaru Usman.

Although he lost against 'The Nigerian Nightmare' on two occasions, the NCAA Division I wrestler was competitive until the end, with some insisting he should have gotten his hands raised during the pair's rematch at UFC 268.

Outside of Usman, Covington has been a dominant presence in the division and has looked almost flawless dating back to his character change after a standout performance against Demian Maia in Brazil.

Since then, the Miami native has put on some eye-catching showcases against Rafael dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley, and the aforementioned Jorge Masvidal, securing himself as one of the top welterweights on the roster.
