Why were Chiefs' Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick arrested? Everything we know about NFL duo's transgressions 

The Kansas City Chiefs just cannot seem to keep themselves out of the headlines, it would appear. While wide receiver Rashee Rice has found himself on the wrong side of the law this year, two of his teammates appear to have walked down the same path.

Multiple reports emerged on Friday, May 17, stating that linemen Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested on Thursday night. The two NFL stars were arrested on counts of possession of marijuana and THC.

Bail for the Chiefs duo was set at $2,500, per Fox Sports' Harold Kuntz. The duo posted bail and were released on Friday afternoon.

Both Morris and Godrick are entering their second year with the franchise in 2024.

Chiefs players' controversies this year

Earlier this year, Super Bowl-winning WR Rashee Rice was arrested for his alleged role in a high-speed car crash. The incident reportedly occurred in Dallas in April.

Rice and SMU cornerback Theodore Knox are both being sued in the same case for $1 million each by the alleged victims in the crash.

Rice later got himself into more trouble with the law.

On May 7, the Chiefs wideout was accused of assaulting a photographer at a nightclub in Dallas. While the outcome of that investigation is still pending, it is likely that Rice could face an NFL suspension to start the year.

Another Chiefs player who has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this year is kicker Harrison Butker.

The three-time Super Bowl champion made a controversial speech at a graduation ceremony this past weekend.

During his speech at Kansas' Benedictine College, Butker said:

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.

"I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say that her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”

Butker went on another rant on inclusion, adding:

“The world around us says that we should keep our beliefs to ourselves whenever they go against the tyranny of diversity, equity and inclusion."

Following Butker's commencement speech, over 100,000 fans signed a petition calling for the Chiefs to release the Super Bowl-winning kicker. The NFL also formally released a statement saying that Butker's speech was made of his own volition and did not reflect the sentiments of the league as a whole.
