"HISTORY MAKER": Fans proud as Jimin's Like Crazy becomes 1st- Korean solo song to be certified Platinum by Music Canada in this decade

On January 11, 2024, Music Canada announced on their official website that BTS' Jimin's Like Crazy received Platinum single certification for surpassing 80,000 sales in North America.

With this certification, Like Crazy becomes the first Korean solo song to be honored with Platinum by Music Canada in the current decade.

Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate the latest achievement of the Set Me Free Pt.2 singer. One user referred to him as the History Maker and tweeted:

BTS' Jimin released his solo debut studio album, FACE, on March 24, 2023, featuring six tracks including Face-Off, Interlude: Dive, Like Crazy, Alone, Set Me Free Pt.2, and Like Crazy English version. He released the album through Big Hit Music, spanning genres such as pop, hip hop, and R&B.

Upon the album's release, the Like Crazy singer kickstarted remarkable recording sales of 1,021,32 on the first day, according to Hanteo charts. He emerged as the first solo artist on the chart to surpass one million album sales on the release date.

Additionally, with his hit track Like Crazy, the Set Me Free Pt. 2 singer became the first solo K-pop artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Having achieved Platinum certification from Music Canada, making him the first solo singer to do so since Psy's Gangnam Style, Jimin solidifies his status as a phenomenal vocalist and influential K-pop idol in the American music industry.

In August 2023, he received the Gold Single certification from Music Canada for Like Crazy, selling over 40k copies, becoming the first Korean solo artist to achieve this milestone in the ongoing decade.

Meanwhile, he has also been honored with Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for selling over 250,000 units of his debut studio album, FACE, making it the first and only Korean language album by a K-pop solo artist in Japan.

In recent updates, the Set Me Free Pt.2 singer released his digital single, Closer Than This as a gift to his fans while serving in the military. He recenly graced the cover of the Harper's Bazaar Japan with three stunning covers, sending fans into a frenzy.


Jimin enlisted for his mandatory military service on December 12, 2023, alongside Jungkook and is set to serve his country for eighteen months with an expected discharge from military service in 2025.
