Stranger Things season 5 may be the most-awaited TV program for many fans worldwide. With confirmation that production for the fifth season of the series has already started, the anticipation is even greater.

At its height, the fourth season broke multiple streaming records due to its enormous global appeal. The Duffer Brothers left a lot for the final season, which is likely to be led by Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) once more, and it ended on a suspenseful cliffhanger.

While the majority of the cast is set to return for the final season of the series, one of the major misses will be the character of Argyle, played by Eduardo Franco. After only being introduced in the fourth season of the series, he rose to become a fan favorite, but it seems like the character is not going to return for the final season.

Eduardo Franco confirms that Argyle will not appear in season 5 of Stranger Things

The storylines of a multitude of characters were the main emphasis of the fourth season. Among them, one of the most significant figures was Argyle (played by Eduardo Franco). Argyle became Jonathan Byers' closest buddy following his relocation to California.

However, according to recent reports, Eduardo Franco said he never received a call from the producers, meaning the amusing character who consumes m*rijuana won't appear in the fifth and final season.

The actor appeared on the Steve Varley Show to promote his Hulu comedy film, Self Reliance. Fans were speculating that Franco might not return, so when Varley brought up the cast photo just before production was about to start, he asked him to clarify the obvious.

The host, Steve Varley, asked Franco the following:

“Before I let you go, I just want to ask real quick, because it’s on everyone’s mind. You don’t have to answer this, but fans kind of went to a panic with the cast photo of day one of Stranger Things season five."

He continued saying:

"Now they’re thinking you’re not in the season. Can you give us hopes that you are? And can you say anything if not?"

Eduardo Franco replied, saying:

"It’s nice to hear that there’s some sort of, you know, concern or something, you know what I mean? But I’ve never, I never got a phone call. So yeah, I think that’s it.”

It has been made clear to Franco and now to the fans that Argyle will not be returning to the final season since the actor was not contacted by the producers about his recurrence.

Even though Argyle was a relatively new character in season four of Stranger Things, he provided much-needed comedic relief to an otherwise suspenseful plot. Argyle may have been a valuable member of the club, but things are anticipated to get even worse during the upcoming fifth season.

The final season of Stranger Things will see the citizens of Hawkins make one last battle against Vecna and everything bad that lies underneath the town.
