Just yesterday, St. Louis Blues All-Star Vladimir Tarasenko was traded to the Rangers in return for draft picks along with Sammy Blais. Already, the newly acquired Ranger is making a difference for his new team.

Last night, both Bo Horvat and Anthony Beauvillier scored on their former teams in the same game. In Vladimir Tarasenko’s debut, he would join the post-trade scoring party. Scoring his very first shot at the new team, Tarasenko would open up the game’s scoring 3 minutes in, electrifying Madison Square Garden.

Here’s how NHL Twitter Reacted to Tarasenko’s goal

“It’s Magic.” Vladimir Tarasenko raises the roof in Rangers debut in win over Kraken

It was just two minutes and 49 seconds into the game when Vlad brought the Madison Square Garden crowd to their feet. Tarasenko chipped home a pass from fellow Russian Artemi Panerin past Martin Jones from right in front of the goal crease to put the Rangers up early 1-0.

Just two and a half minutes later, Kaapo Kakko extended the lead for the Rangers. Breaking a 16-game goal-scoring drought, Kaapo buried the puck on Jones off a rebound shot from Filip Chytil.

Later in the first, Vincent Trocheck increased the Rangers' lead by skating around a poke-checking Jones and sliding the puck into the net. By the end of the first period, the Rangers had built a nearly insurmountable 3-0 lead.

The second period would be even. Jacob Trouba ballooned the Rangers lead to 4-0 with a power-play goal a minute into the period. A minute later, Oliver Bjorkstrand got the Kraken on the board, with a Tolvanen cross-ice pass to a streaking Bjorkstrand that ended up top shelf past the glove of Shesterkin.

Mika Zibanejad increased the Rangers' lead to four in the early third period on a no-look, backhand pass from Chris Kreidler, effectively killing the Kraken with a 5-1 lead.

Despite this, Kraken attempted a furious rally in the third period, but it was too late. On a power-play opportunity, Jared McCann scored, and 22 seconds later, Brandon Tanev caught the Rangers defense sleeping and scored on a breakaway.

The Kraken were unable to maintain their lead as New York shut down Seattle defensively in the third period. On power plays, the Kraken had several chances to score but couldn't find the back of the twine. Ryan Lindgren scored the game-winning goal for the Rangers. The final score was 6-3.
