Just over a week after the start of IPL-4, Kochi Franchisee is once again seeking an option to include former India captain Sourav Ganguly to their side. It has been reported by reputed media agencies that Kochi Tusker management is keen on including the former India Captain as a replacement for Steve Smith after the latter was ruled out of the tournament.

Kochi Tusker had earlier also approached BCCI for including Ganguly in their team after the Bengal batsman went unsold in the auction. BCCI then had said that Ganguly could only be included on the condition that all other franchisees have no objection to it.

However Ganguly was destined to be left out of IPL as some Franchisee raised objections to ‘the Prince’ being included after the auction, citing a rule which says – Players going unsold in the auction cannot be included later on.

Kochi Tuskers, who made a bad start in the IPL with two consecutive lost will be boosted if they can get Ganguly on board as the stylist left hander will try to make a solid comeback and prove all his detractors wrong. Moreover Ganguly is known for making sensational comebacks whenever he returns after a lay off.

It now remains to be seen whether Kochi Tuskers can get the Former Captain to play for them. If Ganguly is included in the team, the Kerala based club will certainly enjoy their outings at Eden after Kolkata Crowd boycotted KKR match at Eden. Large fan base of ‘Dada’ will be another advantage for Kochi.

Ganguly along with Mumbai Ranji captain Wasim Jaffer and VRV Singh were the three Indian players who went unsold in the IPL Players Auction in January.
