The Second Round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers witness 30 Asian Countries battling out on Saturday to keep their hopes alive of making it to Brazil in 2014. The first leg played out in fifteen different locations across the continent, comprises of matches played by the Asian Countries excepting the big five – Australia, Japan, S. Korea, North Korea and Bahrain.
Out of the 15 matches played, 14 of the matches yield results in favour of the home team while the match between Turkmenistan and Indonesia ended in a 1-1 draw. In all the matches involving Middle East Countries battling the South Asian Countries, the former emerged triumphant. Nepal suffered the most humiliating lost of 9-0 in the legs of Jordan.
Many countries have virtually ensured their next round progress by winning the match by a huge goal margin, minimizing the chance of their opponents making a comeback in the second leg. However many are still in a tight situation and their World Cup hope still remains in balance till the completion of the second leg to be played out again in another fifteen different locations across the continent.
