In the build-up to the 25th Royal Rumble match, scheduled to be held on January 29th, 2012, we have revisited the first six Royal Rumble events over the past few days. In this post we visit the seventh Royal Rumble event that took place on January 22, 1994 at the Providence Civic Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Here are some important facts about this match:
- The time interval between two subsequent entrances was reduced for the first time from 2 minutes to 90 seconds, in this match. This considerably reduced the length of a Royal Rumble match and therefore made it even more thrilling and gripping to watch.
- Bam Bam Bigelow lasted the longest in this match for about 30 minutes and 12 seconds.
- Diesel (Kevin Nash) earned the distinction of eliminating the most number of men in this match (7).
- For the first time in the history of Royal Rumble matches, two men were declared as winners in this match. Bret Hart and Lex Luger were declared as the co-winners of Royal Rumble 1994 since their feet touched the floor at the same time. Both men received title matches at Wrestlemania 10.
