Now, let us take a look at the eleventh Royal Rumble match that took place on January 18, 1998 at the San Jose Arena in San Jose, California. An entertaining match came down to two icons of the attitude era – The Rock and Steve Austin. In the end, Austin reigned supreme. Here are some important facts about this match:
- Stone Cold Steve Austin entered the match at number 24 and emerged the winner by eliminating The Rock.
- Courtesy of this victory, Stone Cold joined the likes of Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels to become the third wrestler to win 2 consecutive Royal Rumbles.
- Stone Cold went on a rampage in this match, eliminating 7 participants en-route to his victory.
- The Rock earned the distinction for lasting the longest in this match. He entered the match at number 4 and lasted 51 minutes and 32 seconds.
