The twenty-second Royal Rumble match took place on January 25, 2009 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. WWE‘s Apex Predator Randy Orton won the first Royal Rumble match of his career. He did not sweat much as he had ample support from his Legacy counterparts Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes. The Viper and his men dominated this match which is considered to be one of the key moments in Randy Orton’s WWE career. He was involved in a feud with the authority figures in the WWE such as Vince, Stephanie and Triple H and was in danger of losing his job. However, by winning this match, Orton ensured that he would stay longer as he had earned himself an opportunity to headline Wrestlemania.
