Players who made the difference at Manchester United this season

Overall, it has been a far from convincing display by the red devils but if you look at the Premier League especially the table, it has been the best season in the last two decades in terms of away form and the points gathered so far. This season was a sort of a transition period for Manchester United when they had to bid adieu to some of the old but experienced and reliable players. Naturally, some of the young players had to step up and make the difference. Here’s a list of players who in my opinion made all the difference

Antonio Valencia

Probably our best player this season. The winger has been accurate and has presented countless opportunities for Rooney & co. Not to forget he scored some important goals too. And, he backs that with a great work ethic. He wins tackles and makes those runs through the channels also covers up for defenders. Also played out of position when our full-backs were injured. A complete team player.

Paul Scholes

Ever since his comeback United have so far dropped only two points. We have the best pass completion rate from being 6th in the BPL. Ever since his inclusion United have held the ball well. He contributed to United’s goal tally with three goals as well.

Wayne Rooney

He has been the second best striker in the Premier League behind Robin Van Persie with 22 goals so far. Being a striker his passing ability is second to none which probably prompted SAF to play him in the center of midfield for a few games when midfielders were injured earlier in the season.

Ashley Young

Has slowly but strongly made the left wing position in United’s lineup his own. We needed someone to replace the aging legs of Giggs and Young is doing that in his own way. His trickery and incisive runs makes it difficult for the opposition to handle him. Backs that with accurate passes in play and set pieces as well.

De Gea

He came in as a replacement for Van Der Saar. Having made a shaky and nervous start to the season and developing into a confident and assured man between the post, De Gea has come a long way. Half a season is what it took for him to adapt and show that he is worth his 20m transfer fee. He probably has the best reflexes among BPL goal-keepers, maybe it is because he is just 21.

Phil Jones

He played as a full-back, as a center-back and also as a central midfielder. Unlike English defenders, he likes going forward . Physically and mentally strong, many believe he is a future captain. He is only 20. Bound to getter better with experience.
