The Telegraph reports that Rio Ferdinand is out for a month with a groin problem suffered in Friday’s training in Carrington. This would rule him out of Manchester United‘s opening game at Goodison Park on monday, with a prolonged time on the sidelines also seeming likely.
United are already without Chris Smalling and Phil Jones through injury. Jonny Evans has just resumed training, however might be sometime away from action. The injury of Ferdinand would be a cause for deep concern for the manager as the new season starts.
