Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentis has confirmed that Rafa Benitez will be the new manager of Napoli. Benitez is not expected to continue his tenure at Chelsea despite European success and Champions League qualification, he will be most likely be replaced by Mourinho. Napoli seems to have grabbed on to the opportunity and tied the former Liverpool boss into a two year contract with the Serie A club.
Benitez will be replacing Walter Mazzarri, who was appointed as the manager of the club in 2009. Mazzarri had contributed to few successful campaigns of the Italian club which includes a third rank finish in the domestic league in 2010-2011 campaign which guaranteed them direct access into UEFA Champions League group stage. He also employed Cavani and Hamsik in the club’s ranks. However, Napoli’s ambition to become one of the greatest in Italian league prompted their decision to appoint Benitez as their new boss. Benitez is on his way to improve his resume and serving Napoli would certainly be an add on.
The Spaniard’s main task will be to persuade Cavani to continue his extraordinary run with Napoli. However, if Cavani does choose to leave the Italian outfit, Benitez will be the man to find an equally formidable replacement.
