Gurunath Meiyappan arrested by Mumbai Police

Kings XI Punjab v Chennai Super Kings - IPL

Gurunath Meiyappan the son-in-law of BCCI chief N. Srinivasan has been arrested by the Mumbai police for his involvement in the spot fixing scandal. According to sources, Actor Vindoo Dara Singh, who had been arrested earlier in week for his alleged links with bookies, had told the cops that he bet on games on Mr Meiyappan’s behalf.

Speaking about the arrest, Himanshu Roy, the Joint Commissioner of Police for Mumbai spoke about the arrest of Meyiappan “We have interrogated him and based on the information we have, we found his involvement in the offence. We have placed him under arrest.” The Mumbai police interrogated Meiyappan for nearly two hours during which he admitted to have placed bets on games. However, he put the blame on Vindoo Dara Singh.

Meanwhile, the owners of the Chennai Super Kings have washed their hands off Meiyappan and have stated that he is not one of the owners of the franchise but is an honorary member of the team.
