EPL stats preview: Matchweek 6 - Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea - Premier League Preview

Jose Mourinho would face his ex-colleague in the London derby clash today

Tottenham Hotspur will face Chelsea at White Hart Lane today. Spurs are placed second in the league table and Chelsea are placed fourth.

Tottenham will be high on confidence as they have won consecutive games. Spurs have won 4 of their last 5 matches in all competitions. Chelsea, on the other hand, have lost 2 games out of their last 5.

Spurs will be hoping to continue their fine form and try to score from open play. Mourinho most likely would prefer playing safe, and a point at White Hart Lane would be satisfactory for The Blues.

STATS

- Tottenham haven’t beaten Chelsea since April 2010.

- The highest goal tally between the two sides is 8, a 4-4 draw back in the 2007/2008 season.

- Tottenham have scored just 11 Premier League goals between them from 10 games this season.

- This is only the second time since the 1960s that Tottenham have won four out of their opening five league matches. The only other instance came in the 2009-10 season in which they finished fourth and qualified for the Champions League.

- Tottenham have averaged the most shots per game (21) and have allowed the fewest shots of any team (7) in the league this season.

- Ten points is Chelsea’s lowest-ever tally after five games since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003, along with the 2007-08 season, also under Jose Mourinho, and 2011-12 when Andre Villas-Boas was in charge.

- None of Chelsea’s strikers have scored a Premier League goal yet this season. In fact, of Chelsea’s previous 25 league goals, only one has been scored by a recognised striker (Fernando Torres v Everton in May).

- Chelsea have a won 17, drawn 6 and lost 4 away from home in all competitions under referee Mike Dean.

- Chelsea have gained more Premier League points (85) at White Hart Lane than any Premier League club

- If this game is drawn then Chelsea will have exactly mirrored that start in 2007-08 that saw Mourinho sacked after six matches.
