South African cricket team wearing pink jersey to celebrate ‘Pink Day’ in support of breast cancer

Most of the people who are watching the 1st ODI between South Africa and India must be wondering why the South African team are wearing an unusual pink jersey instead of their traditional green one!

The answer is, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has set aside December 5 as ‘Pink Day’, in support of breast cancer awareness.

The board has also urged the fans to wear pink and support the noble cause. Various activities have been planned throughout the day for the fans; for instance, the ‘best-dressed child’ under the age of 12 will hand over the Man of the Match award after the game. The ‘best-dressed family’ will also get to meet and greet a few of the South African players.

South Africa wore pink once before in an ODI against Pakistan at the Wanderers in March this year. In that game, Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers scored sensational centuries as they beat Pakistan by 34 runs.
