European champions Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker will sign a five-year contract with the Bavarians.
Bayern confirmed the signing via their Twitter account:
The Pole has scored 16 goals in 24 games so far this season for Dortmund. Last season, he scored four goals against Real Madrid in the semi finals of the Champions League, a performance that put him on the radar of many top clubs in Europe.
Poland’s Player of the Year 2011 and 2012 scored 65 goals in 115 appearances with the BVB. He was one of the key players and had large shares on Dortmund’s two Bundesliga titles and the DFB Cup 2012.
Bayern Munich sit atop the standings with 44 points and 7-gap to runner Leverkusen. Meanwhile Dortmund occupy 4th place with 32 points.
Lewandowski’s contract at Dortmund ends this summer and he will move to Bayern in the summer for free.
