The 2013 FIFA Ballon d’OR winner is Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo had previously won the Ballon d’Or in 2008 following which Lionel Messi had won it 4 times consecutively. He had also placed second in the Ballon d’Or in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2012.
Ronaldo collected the runners-up medal in Copa Del Rey with Real Madrid in 2013 along with helping Portugal qualify for the World Cup finals to be held in Brazil in 2014. Ronaldo became only the second player in history to win the Ballon d’Or without even winning a single major trophy during the year, the first being Portugal’s Luis Figo, who had won it in 2000.
He was also the UEFA Champions League top-scorer of the year 2013 with 12 goals, where Real Madrid lost to Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals. Cristiano also reached the landmark of 200 goals for Real Madrid in 197 games in 2013.
