The latest update on former F1 racer Michael Schumacher is far from pleasing, as doctors at the University Hospital of Grenobleseem seem to have run out of options to try and revive the critically injured German.
German magazine Focus reports that frantic efforts were being made by the surgeons until last week to improve the 45-year-old’s condition. But now, much to the dismay of fans across the world, the doctors seem to have resigned themselves to fate.
The retired icon is currently in a state of induced coma, following a horrific accident while skiing with friends and family in a French resort on December 29. The impact left a broken helmet, and a critical Schumacher.
A surgery to reduce bleeding and bruising was performed, after which he was placed in a medically-induced coma.
On January 30, the legend’s family reported that the dosage of drugs used to sustain the coma was being reduced, with a view to bring him back to conciousness. But so far, those efforts have been in vain.
Although initial reports seemed relatively promising, seven weeks in, things do not look much different for the champion.
Update: Schumacher’s manager has refuted these reports, insisting that the procedure to revive a patient from coma can take a long time, and that as of now nothing has changed with respect to Schumacher’s condition.
