About EPL

The top-flight of the English football league system is called the Premier League. It was founded in 1992 as the FA Premier League after the Football League First Division clubs decided to break away from the original English league that was founded in 1888.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester City - Premier League

The Premier League is the Football League with the most number of spectators in the world. The Premier League has seen 49 clubs take part so far. However, only six teams have won the league title and they are Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.

Every year, the last 3 teams on the table are relegated to the English first division league and the top 3 teams from the first division are promoted to the Premier League.

Premier League Rivalries

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur

The rivalry of North London that involves the Gunners and the Lilywhites is all about the bragging rights and Arsenal had been dominant for close to two decades. Now Tottenham have emerged as the better team in North London as they have finished the 2021-22 season with a fourth place compared to Arsenal's 5th. However, only time will tell if it will remain that way. Can Spurs stand the test of time or are we in for a Gunner resurgence?

London derbies are always high intensity games, where emotions and enthusiasm of both players and fans are terrific .

Manchester United v Manchester City

It wasn’t that long ago that this was a derby that was heavily one-sided as evidenced by the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson dismissed their city rivals as ‘noisy neighbors’. But the noisy neighbors have seemingly taken over now and there has been a clear power shift in Manchester. But as we know, you can never count Manchester United out and with the two teams looking the strongest they have in years, this rivalry could very well be the mine that we tap a lot of entertainment out of in the years to come.

Liverpool vs Everton

Dubbed the ‘friendly derby’, the Merseysiders, however, have tried their very best to ensure it is anything but on the pitch. Don’t believe me, just look at how many red cards have been produced in this fixture over the years. Both teams are rich in history and this is one rivalry that divides the people of Merseyside for life.

Everton FC v Liverpool FC - Premier League

Liverpool vs Manchester United

It’s all about the history and the legacy of two great clubs who have taken turns to dominate the country and occasionally, the European continent itself. It’s about as heated as rivalries get and the Mancunians and Merseysiders have no qualms about putting their nose to the grindstone when it comes to eking out a result for their team on the day.

Liverpool FC v Manchester United - Premier League

Liverpool played Manchester United in December 2018, where they beat United 3-1. Mane and Shaqiri scored for Liverpool and Lingard scored for United. The second time these two heavyweights met was in February 2019, where the game ended 0-0. These games are always special since two Premier League greats are involved.

Premier League - Present Day Scenario

Premier League is arguably the most entertaining league in Europe owing to its unpredictability and the unrelenting pace of the game. The 2021-22 season just proved my EPL is arguably the best league in the world. The season had a nerve wrecking finish as Manchester City and Liverpool went face to face for the title. However, it was City who secured the PL title with just a single point lead over Liverpool.

Manchester City v Brighton & Hove Albion - Premier League

The 2020-21 Premier League season was a tumultuous one due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Liverpool entered the season as defending champions, but the Reds capitulated dramatically after topping the table on Christmas Day. Jurgen Klopp's side suffered several injuries to key players and were unable to turn around a series of underwhelming results that saw them lose six home league games in a row for the first time in their history.

Manchester City, on the other hand, started the season slowly but picked up form as the games progressed. The Cityzens comfortably sealed their third league title in four seasons earlier in May, as Pep Guardiola masterminded his side to domestic glory after losing out to Liverpool last season.

Sheffield United's horrid league campaign ended in relegation, while Fulham and West Bromwich Albion are also set to drop down to the Championship next season.
