#2 Hopefully true: WWE's interest in signing AEW star MJF
Andrew Zarian of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that WWE is 'interested' in signing MJF once his deal expires with AEW down the road. Moreover, FOX and USA Network executives are firmly behind WWE's interest in the AEW star.
It's worth noting that the hearsays come on the heels of Friedman's ongoing feud with CM Punk. A WWE source reportedly said this following the war of words between Punk and MJF:
A female WWE star said her life is in danger. Details HERE
"I actually stopped what I was doing and listened to him. I don’t think I have done that with pro wrestling in a long time.”
“He has everything we would want. It really depends on if he could be that same person on WWE TV. We want new stars to be the focus within the next few years. That’s the plan.”
MJF himself reacted to the reports by teasing the biggest bidding war when his contract expires in 2024.
Although Meltzer previously stated that Friedman is most likely to stay with AEW, the prospect of seeing two major promotions going head-to-head would make MJF a bigger star than ever. Until then, the 25-year-old will remain one of the four pillars of Tony Khan's promotion.
#1 Hopefully true: Kyle O'Reilly or Johnny Gargano joining AEW
Andrew Zarian also reported that either Johnny Gargano or Kyle O'Reilly is a 'done deal' to AEW, as per the impression he got from a source within WWE.
While it would be difficult to say if Gargano would be a great addition to a stacked AEW roster, O'Reilly's singing with Tony Khan's promotion makes the most sense, and we hope it turns out to be true. Adam Cole has even teased a special 'Christmas' present for Dynamite's Holiday Bash edition, which has led to speculation that it could turn out to be none other than his former Undisputed Era member.
O'Reilly has fueled those rumors as well. It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan successfully brings another ex-WWE star to AEW anytime soon.
