Last night, fans witnessed the final pay-per-view of AEW's 2024 calendar, Worlds End. The event had several highlights and standout matches that delighted the fans and set up new feuds for the coming year.
However, not everything featured on the show was gold, with a few mistakes between matches and segments. So, we're here to look at the botches you might've missed during AEW Worlds End 2024.
#3. Jon Moxley suffered an injury from a botched Shield Powerbomb landing
Jon Moxley put his AEW World Title on the line against Orange Cassidy, Jay White, and Hangman Page in a Four-Way match at Worlds End 2024. During the bout, Moxley would be cornered by his opponents as they banded together to take him out.
All three opponents would proceed to lift Mox and hit him with a Triple Powerbomb on the announce table. The maneuver would be a direct lift from Moxley's iconic WWE faction, The Shield. However, the move would end up hurting the current World Champion more than intended.
Moxley seemed to suffer a big cut on the back of his head from the Shield Triple Powerbomb. The landing from the signature move seemed to have been an unfortunate botch, resulting in this injury.
#2. Mercedes Mone's final pin against Kris Statlander looked bizarre
Mercedes Mone defended her AEW TBS Championship against Kris Statlander in an impressive match at Worlds End 2024. The two stars would put on a treat for the fans and clock in the longest women's match in AEW history at 24 minutes and 35 seconds.
Both women fought tooth and nail against one another, using creative offenses from deep within their arsenals. However, Mercedes Mone ultimately came out on top in their second encounter.
The CEO used an innovative move to finish off Kris Statlander for the win. Mone almost looked to lock in her signature submission but turned her to pin her shoulders down to the mat. Even though it was a creative trick to end the match, the actual pinfall looked bizarre and botched.
#1. Adam Copeland being handed a faulty microphone on his AEW return
Adam Copeland made his thunderous return at the Worlds End 2024 pay-per-view following a seven-month hiatus from All Elite Wrestling. The Rated-R Superstar would appear alongside his allies FTR to beat down Jon Moxley after he won his World Title match.
Copeland then delivered a spear to the current AEW World Champion and applied a rod-assisted cross-face submission. Following the beatdown, Adam Copeland would ask for the microphone to send Moxley a message but was handed a faulty microphone.
This embarrassing botch resulted in Copeland screaming into the wrong microphone, with nothing coming out. This eventually led to a brief awkward moment until he received a working mic, at which point he called out Moxley and his Death Riders stable.
