Jon Moxley has emerged as one of AEW's most consistent and reliable top stars since he made his debut in 2019. Since signing with the Tony Khan-led promotion, the Ohio native has competed at a very high level not only in All Elite Wrestling but in other promotions all across the world, including NJPW and CMLL.
The Purveyor of Violence made history this year when he won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Windy City Riot 2024. He defended the belt against a host of opponents from AEW and New Japan before dropping it to the man he won it from, Tetsuya Naito, at Forbidden Door 2024 last month.
Since then, Jon Moxley has remained absent from All Elite Wrestling programming. His path toward the promotion's upcoming pay-per-view, All In 2024, is seemingly unclear. However, he could very well return to television ahead of the massive event and may find himself involved in a number of possible storylines.
As such, let us look at three possible directions for Jon Moxley's route to AEW All In.
#1. Jon Moxley could challenge Chris Jericho for the FTW Championship at All In
One of Jon Moxley's early feuds in All Elite Wrestling pitted him against Chris Jericho, who had become the first-ever AEW World Champion at All Out 2019. The feud between the two men drew from the history they shared during their time in WWE, culminating in Moxley dethroning The Demo God for the World Title at Revolution 2020.
Their rivalry would be resurrected in 2022 when The Blackpool Combat Club went to war against The Jericho Appreciation Society. On Dynamite: Quake By The Lake in August of that year, Moxley successfully defended the Interim AEW World Title against Jericho. The duo have not wrestled each other in singles action since then.
Chris Jericho has since re-invented himself, dubbing himself The Learning Tree and gathering new stablemates in the form of Big Bill and Bryan Cage. Furthermore, The Ocho currently holds the FTW Title, which he won from HOOK at Dynasty 2024. Jericho and his "branches" have been wreaking havoc over their enemies in recent weeks, brutally assaulting HOOK on Dynamite last week and sending Samoa Joe to the hospital this week. Given that the Canadian legend does not seem to have an opponent ready for All In 2024, Jon Moxley could easily fill the part and resume his feud with Jericho.
Moxley could thus potentially challenge Jericho to put his FTW Championship on the line at Wembley Stadium, perhaps in the familiar environment of an FTW Rules match. The buildup to the feud could lead to The BCC being involved against The Learning Tree as well and lead to Moxley re-creating his 2020 win over Jericho by dethroning the latter for the FTW Belt at All In.
#2. Claudio Castagnoli turns on Jon Moxley to set up a match at All In
Claudio Castagnoli joined AEW as a member of The Blackpool Combat Club and a replacement for Bryan Danielson at Forbidden Door 2022. He has found considerable success as a part of the stable, including two reigns as the ROH World Champion.
Despite his close bond with his stablemates and regular appearance on television in AEW and Ring of Honor, Castagnoli has displayed signs of frustration on multiple occasions in recent months. He expressed his disapproval of Danielson joining Team AEW in their Anarchy in the Arena brawl against The Elite at Double or Nothing 2024.
More recently, he had a tense exchange with The American Dragon after losing to PAC in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Owen Hart Cup - a trophy that Danielson himself won this week on Dynamite.
Castagnoli's recent behavior raises the possibility of him turning on his co-faction members in The BCC, including Jon Moxley. The King of Swing could potentially betray Mox and feud with the latter during the buildup to All In 2024.
Bryan Danielson being locked in for a World Title match against Swerve Strickland at Wembley opens the prospect of Castagnoli locking horns with the former Dean Ambrose in a blockbuster collision at All In. The two men have never competed against each other in singles action in AEW before, which, in fact, raises the stakes for the prospective bout even higher.
#3. The BCC could win the Unified World Trios Titles at All In
The Bang Bang Gang defeated The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn at the pre-show for Dynasty 2024 to unify the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles and the AEW World Trios Titles.
Since then, Jay White and The Gunns have defended their belts successfully against Action Andretti and Top Flight on Collision and against Death Triangle at Double or Nothing 2024 with help from a returning Juice Robinson, who The Switchblade would nominate as one of the holders of the Trios Titles via the Freebird Rule.
However, the group's attempt to invoke that rule on the recent tapings of AEW Collision - which saw the faction try to substitute an injured White with Robinson for their trios match - led to interim EVP Christopher Daniels to vacate the Unified World Trios Titles and declare that Robinson and The Gunns will face The Patriarchy for the belts at some later date.
Despite being one of the most dominant groups in AEW, The Blackpool Combat Club has never held tag team or trios gold in the company. This could change if the members of the BCC, besides Danielson, competed for the Unified World Trios Titles, potentially at All In 2024. The championships would undoubtedly be elevated by the faction and also grant Jon Moxley the opportunity to win a major title alongside his stablemates at Wembley Stadium.
It remains to be seen whether and how Jon Moxley will figure into the card for All In.
