AEW means a lot to Tony Khan and he makes sure that the product is the best when it comes to delivering matches and impressing the fans. Khan even went as far as putting himself in the line of fire as The Elite attacked him a few months back.

Despite all that, many in the wrestling world believe he and the creative team have made some mistakes that have not been impressive. In this article, we will take a look at three mistakes that AEW has made so far this year.

#3. Bringing back MJF when Adam Cole is injured

MJF is one of the most popular names in AEW. The Salt of the Earth is their marquee star and commands respect unlike any other, regardless of whether he is a face or a heel.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Friedman was involved in a great storyline with Adam Cole last year, which led to Cole betraying the former AEW World Champion at the Worlds End pay-per-view and putting him on the shelf for almost five months.

However, MJF made his shocking return at Double or Nothing last month and took out Adam Cole. The sad thing is that his comeback has not gone over so much with the fans mainly because his rivalry with Cole has seemingly paused as the latter is still out injured.

Holding back Friedman's return till the former NXT Champion recovered would have been the right thing to do, as it would have given continuation to one of the popular storylines of 2023.

#2. Letting Jeff Hardy leave AEW

The story of Jeff Hardy and AEW is something that will go down as unfulfilled potential. There was a lot of promise when he made his debut in 2022 as the fans loved it. But that did not turn out to be the case.

From untimely injuries to off-field issues, Hardy’s time in the company just did not do him any favors. Add to that, the lousy booking meant that there was nothing of note for him to achieve there. The Charismatic Enigma's contract with the company ended in June. Matt Hardy recently revealed that no one from All Elite Wrestling reached out to Jeff for a new deal.

#1. Not letting Malakai Black win the TNT Championship

Similar to Jeff Hardy, Malakai Black’s time in AEW has not been something to talk about so far. He did not have a singles match for a very long time as he was caught up in the tag team scene with the House of Black.

When Black finally got the chance to shine as a singles star, the timing was right to let him win the TNT Championship off Adam Copeland at Double or Nothing. However, that did not happen and to make matters worse, Copeland injured himself in the match and later had to vacate the title.

Having Black win the title would have elevated him to a higher status in the company and also kept the title meaningful.
