AEW's next marquee event is Grand Slam, a two-part professional wrestling television special that will take place later this month. In it, Nigel McGuinness is scheduled to lock horns with AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson. Interestingly, this will be a non-title affair.
Bryan Danielson's life in All Elite Wrestling has turned to hell. At All Out, after a valiant title defense against Jack Perry, Christian Cage attempted to cash in his AEW World Championship match contract. However, due to the Blackpool Combat Club's intervention, matters didn't proceed any further.
For a moment it looked like the faction was celebrating Danielson's triumph, but all was just a mere facade. Claudio Castagnoli delivered an uppercut to the AEW World Champion and Jon Moxley choked him with a plastic bag. The only BCC member empathetic towards the leader of the "Yes!" movement was Wheeler Yuta. After the assault, the AEW medical team and the former ROH Pure Champion escorted Danielson backstage.
There are multiple possibilities in this storyline. Many names are involved and everyone has different intentions. However, everyone's eyes are on the prestigious AEW World Championship.

Let us take a look at three potential finishes for Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness at AEW Grand Slam 2024.
#3. Jon Moxley and his stable could interfere, however, Danielson and McGuinness may join forces at Grand Slam
The match between the two competitors could go on for a good while until Moxley, PAC, Castagnoli, and Shafir interfere. The erstwhile Lunatic Fringe certainly wants to inflict pain on the World Champion and wouldn't refuse an opportunity. Surprisingly, Nigel McGuinness could help Danielson fight off the BCC.
The two men have a history. On the surface, even though there is animosity between them, they deeply respect each other. They have wrestled multiple times in the past. Their rivalry in ROH is legendary, however their partnership in AEW would be special.
#2. Wheeler Yuta might turn heel
Tony Khan could completely shock fans by turning Wheeler Yuta heel. Since the 27-year-old is on Danielson's side for now, he could accompany him to the ring at Grand Slam. However, during the match, Yuta might attack his mentor. This would result in McGuinness pinning the champion.
The entirety of BCC could then arrive and brutally beat up Danielson. This means that the AEW World Champion would become unallied. It would be interesting to see how the 43-year-old responds to this scenario because this won't be the first time the odds are against him.
#1. Danielson may lose the match and the AEW World Title after Christian Cage cashes in
Christian Cage is a skilled opportunist and he will certainly keep a close eye on the match in question. Danielson is not completely fit because of Moxley's attack at All Out. McGuinness could take advantage of this, keep the champion down by any means necessary, and ultimately defeat him.
Right after this bout, the cunning leader of The Patriarchy could cash in his AEW World Championship match contract and become the World Champion at Grand Slam. This would make the 50-year-old the tenth name to hold the prestigious title.
