Ricochet is one of the most talented wrestlers in AEW but he has not yet been able to fully showcase his talents to his new employers and fans. That is down to a lot of factors.

His arrival at All In 2024 piqued the attention of the wrestling world and many thought that the former WWE star could finally be set for a big push in AEW. However, things have not turned out to be the way he would have wanted.

He is seemingly stuck in the mid-card for now but there is one way for him to propel himself into the main event scene and that is by winning the AEW Continental Classic. In this article, we will take a look at three reasons why Ricochet must win the 2024 AEW Continental Classic.

#3. Chance to win a title

Ricochet has been in AEW since August and he is yet to capture a title. A star of his talent should be holding a title as that is what he warrants.

His matches, despite being on the mid-card, have been top notch so far and with an added incentive of winning the Continental Title, he can take his performance to the next level. He has experience of holding titles from his time in WWE and that should only bode well for him.

#2. Silence the doubters

Ricochet had a great debut at All In. When he made his presence felt at Wembley Stadium, there was genuine excitement around his arrival and fans all over the world were cheering him on.

Since then, because of being stuck in the mid-card, he seemingly lost all the momentum that he had during his arrival. That has led to a lot of people doubting his abilities about not being able to cut it in AEW. By winning the Continental Classic and then proceeding to win the title itself, Ricochet will have silenced the doubters.

#1. Potential heel turn for Ricochet

Even since his arrival in AEW, Ricochet has only been pushed as a baby face and that can only work for so long. It feels like his character is in danger of going stale and if that happens, then he will have a lot more problems.

He recently revealed that he does have dark thoughts about turning heel and winning matches. He was speaking on Barstool’s Rasslin podcast when he said:

“Uh, you know, obviously yes. You do [think about doing those things]. In the moment, the goodness comes out and you’re like, ‘I can’t do it, I just can’t do it.’ But, definitely, you have those thoughts, you have those dark thoughts all the time because it’s like, 'Man, why do I always gotta be the one to take the high road, why do I always gotta be the one to not push the boundaries a little bit.'"

A heel turn as Continental Champion would be greatly beneficial for him and his character to push himself to the top in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
