This week's AEW Dynamite will emanate from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, September 18. Three matches have already been added to the card:
- Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy in a singles match
- Mariah May and Serene Deeb vs. Queen Aminata and Yuka Sakazaki
- The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada vs. Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita, and Kyle Fletcher.
The match card for this week's Wednesday Night Dynamite already looks interesting, but Tony Khan could also pull out some surprises to make it more enticing.
Here's a look at the three surprises Tony Khan could pull off this Wednesday:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3. Yuka Sakazaki could pin Mariah May in a tag team match on this week's Dynamite
This past Saturday on Collision, fans saw Yuka Sakazaki meet Mariah May backstage and demand a match for the AEW Women's World Championship. Later that night, she defeated Serena Deeb in a singles match.
As Yuka was celebrating her victory, The Glamour blindsided her and tried to nail the Storm Zero. However, Sakazaki planted a boot in the champ's face. She then held up the AEW Women's World Title before handing it back to the champion.
It looks like Tony Khan is building a rivalry between the two female stars. Therefore, this coming Wednesday, we could see the Japanese professional wrestler pin Mariah May in the tag team and gain a title shot in the future.
#2. Konosuke Takeshita might betray Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher
On last week's edition of Dynamite, a Tag Team Casino Gauntlet Match was held to determine the new Number One Contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Title.
As a favor, Don Callis asked reigning International Champion Will Ospreay to join forces with Kyle Fletcher for the match, which they eventually won. However, Konosuke Takeshita was not thrilled to see Callis pair Ospreay and Fletcher for the match.
In this week's edition of Dynamite, fans could see Callis asking Takeshita to attack Ospreay and Fletcher. Callis is gradually losing control over Kyle, and The Aerial Assassin left the family earlier this year.
#1. Darby Allin could take out one of Jon Moxley's allies
Darby Allin was set to face Bryan Danielson at Grand Slam 2024 but since the reigning AEW World Champion has yet to be cleared to wrestle, the 31-year-old will defend his title shot opportunity against Jon Moxley in a singles match on September 25.
Apart from the obvious threat of The Purveyor of Violence, the former TNT Champion would also have to be wary of possible interference from PAC and Claudio Castagnoli.
Therefore, to prevent any outside interference at Grand Slam 2024, Darby Allin could take out one of Moxley's allies via a brutal attack on the upcoming episode of Dynamite.
