Former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has been one of the major highlights of the promotion in the past two weeks. However, a top star could align with The Lunatic Fringe and Marina Shafir in their rumored new stable. The name is none other than Darby Allin. The 31-year-old is a two-time TNT Champion and a one-time AEW World Tag Team Champion.
The Deathrider has seemingly returned to his roots of being an aggressive heel since his return to AEW TV. Last week, Moxley called out Darby Allin for a conversation before he turned his attention to veteran commentator Tony Schiavone and said, ''This is not your company anymore!''
Last night on Dynamite, the 38-year-old once again spoke about Darby Allin and called the former TNT Champion a ''special performer.'' Moxley claimed that he just wanted to talk to Darby. The two stars could square off in a brutal matchup. The stipulation of the match could be that if Allin loses the match, he'd be forced to join the erstwhile Dean Ambrose and Marina Shafir in their rumored stable.
Later, Darby Allin could shock everyone by turning heel and unleashing a sinister version of himself. The change of scenery could work for Allin, as he has mostly been a fan favorite throughout his career in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Sam Roberts believes Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir could introduce a new style to AEW
Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir formed a surprising alliance last week on Dynamite, and the duo seems to be moving on a path of destruction in the locker room. Meanwhile, WWE analyst Sam Roberts recently shared an interesting theory behind the unlikely partnership.
In a recent edition of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts stated that Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir would likely introduce a fight club-type genre in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
"I feel more like this is Mox and Marina Shafir, and they're gonna kind of just be doing their own thing, right? In response to criticism that AEW has gotten, I feel like maybe they'll bring a Bloodsport style to AEW, but it's more just going to be. So maybe it's like if Mox and Marina Shafir and whoever they recruit and start this like fight club thing, and if you're not with us, you're against us," he said.
It will be interesting to see what the Tony Khan-led creative team has in store for Marina Shafir and Jon Moxley in the coming weeks.
