WWE RAW has officially made its debut on Netflix and we're sure Tony Khan and AEW have their eyes firmly on the competition. The red brand's season premiere on Netflix has gone over extremely well with the fans and had them buzzing following the stacked show.
The ball is clearly in Tony Khan's court now as he needs to make his move to combat his competition. Of course, it won't be easy to overshine the wrestling juggernaut's huge arrival on Netflix, but perhaps he can pull off a few things that could make a significant mark and turn eyes back on his product.
So, we're here to look at the few booking decisions Tony Khan could make to outshine WWE's debut on Netflix.
#3) A major AEW title change could help turn eyes away from WWE's RAW on Netflix
Title changes are always exciting, especially if it's the right call on whoever holds it next. AEW certainly needs to shake things up to pull back the attention towards its shows and perhaps a major championship change could do that.
Let's say Tony Khan were to book someone to end Jon Moxley's current AEW World Championship reign, it would certainly be exciting, to say the least. A title change would be the cherry on top if a major babyface finally defeats Mox only to get his hopes dashed by Christian Cage cashing in his contract immediately.
It would certainly cause a lot of drama online and invite eyes back onto the Jacksonville-based promotion's product to tune in more to their show and dull WWE RAW's current hype.
#2) Crossover with other celebrities
We all saw WWE bring in Travis Scott in extravagant fashion for RAW's debut on Netflix as the rapper showed up alongside Jey Uso through the crowd. Now, AEW is no stranger to bringing in celebrities, as the promotion has previously invited Shaq, Mike Tyson, and Rick Ross on separate shows.
But, to show that they have the same amount of pull as WWE, Tony Khan needs to reach into his list of contacts and bring in some big names again. Perhaps, if another huge artist on the same level as Travis Scott makes an appearance on one of the shows, it could showcase that AEW has skin in the mainstream as well.
#1) Capitalizing on the upcoming feud between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada
AEW possibly has a golden goose in their hands with the brewing feud between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada. The Cleaner recently made his return at the Worlds End 2024 pay-per-view to confront his past rival.
There's been a lot of history between these two elite stars as they've faced off against each other several times. However, this is the first time that Western audiences will get to see them battle it out on TV in a much-anticipated bout.
Now, it's up to Tony Khan to consistently book these two talents as top-tier superstars clashing against each other. The eventual match needs to be billed as a spectacle to convince wrestling fans to tune in no matter what and maybe even have them forget about WWE RAW on Netflix
