AEW Rampage aired its final episode on December 27, 2024. The show was officially canceled earlier this year. The final episode of All Elite Wrestling's Friday Night show saw Jon Moxley demanding the production team to cut its programming permanently.
The show had been fading in popularity for some time now and had wained in overall quality as well, putting on dull moments. Rampage had also been becoming forgettable and being beaten by WWE's NXT consistently in ratings.
So we're here to examine one of the worst moments from the Rampage's three-year period of TV.
#3. Danhausen coming out to 'curse' HOOK
Fans have been wondering why AEW hasn't done anything major for Danhausen for a while now. It has felt like the Very Nice, Very Evil star has been in the background for most stars and only popped up for certain moments.
Tony Khan first tried to create some magic by pairing HOOK and Danhausen as a quirky, unusual duo. Although this duo started out as fun, it soon trailed off and became annoying.
Danhausen's move to 'curse' HOOK fell flat with The Handsome Devil, as it would not affect him or the fans watching. The moment would stick out as cringy to many, and fans would wonder why the face-painted star isn't being used properly.
#2. First-ever disqualification finish on AEW Rampage
AEW has been against booking disqualification finishes in the past. The promotion has a relatively minimal amount of DQ finishes compared to WWE. So, if a disqualification were to happen, you would think the situation would greatly warrant it.
But that would not be the case, as the show's first-ever disqualification occurred on a random match, with Thunder Rosa taking on Mercedes Martinez on the February 4, 2022, edition of Rampage. Rosa had been adamant about taking revenge against Martinez after the latter cost her the chance to win the TBS Championship.
However, AEW would blow the chance of giving these two a proper blowout match as Martinez would blast Thunder Rosa with a steel pipe, resulting in a disqualification. It's a shame since perhaps these two could have put on a stellar match in better stakes rather than having this shoddy finish.
#1. Satnam Singh's in-ring debut
Many fans disapproved of AEW's use of Satnam Singh, and his debut turned many off the product. Even though Singh had been built as a raging monster, all fans saw were the shades of The Great Khali's terrible run in 07-08.
His first appearance showcased that resemblance, as he would come out and destroy Samoa Joe, which made fans wonder if Tony Khan had reconsidered his booking direction. Even Khan admitted that he had screwed up the debut of the gigantic monster, and his in-ring debut wouldn't also fare that well with fans.
The former NBA player's in-ring debut occurred on the October 6, 2022, episode of Rampage, where he was featured in a tag team match alongside Jay Lethal. Although he appeared to move a bit better than The Great Khali, it was still a big diversion from the stars AEW would showcase.
Singh quickly destroyed his jobber opponents without any excitement or fanfare, and he then continued his run alongside Sonjay Dutt.
