Beth Phoenix has emerged as a major talking point in pro-wrestling circles amid conjecture regarding the prospects of the WWE Hall of Famer joining AEW. The speculations follow a recent report that claimed The Glamazon has departed the Stamford-based promotion.
Fans are understandably excited over the possibility of Beth Phoenix signing a deal with All Elite Wrestling. Many believe her arrival to the promotion could simply be a matter of time, considering her husband, Adam Copeland, signed with AEW last year and has had a successful run in the company so far. However, a new report suggests that while the possibility of Phoenix joining the Tony Khan-led promotion has been discussed backstage, there is no official word as to whether the two parties have engaged in talks.
It cannot be denied that adding Beth Phoenix to AEW's roster would undoubtedly be a significant acquisition. As such, let us consider four possible directions for the 43-year-old veteran in All Elite Wrestling.
#1: Beth Phoenix and Adam Copeland take on Malakai Black and Julia Hart
Adam Copeland sustained a fractured tibia during his barbed wire steel cage TNT Championship match against Malakai Black at Double or Nothing 2024. While The Ultimate Opportunist is currently recovering from the injury, The House of Black has current Unified World Trios Champions, The Patriarchy, in their cross-hairs for taking out Buddy Matthews some time ago.
Regardless of how the feud between the two factions plays out, business remains unfinished between Copeland and Black. After he returns to action, The Ultimate Opportunist could go after Malakai and The House of Black to avenge his injury and the loss of his TNT Championship. Such a storyline could also see Beth Phoenix aid him in his feud against the stable.
This could also lead to a massive mixed tag team match pitting Copeland and Phoenix against Black and Julia Hart, considering the latter may have recently teased her comeback on social media.
#2: Adam Copeland and Beth Phoenix feud with The Patriarchy
The rivalry between Christian Cage and Adam Copeland in AEW began on the heels of the latter's debut in the promotion. The two men clashed several times over The Instant Classic's TNT Championship, and their feud concluded with Copeland defeating Cage in a brutal 'I Quit' match earlier this year.
However, The Patriarch may not have forgiven his former tag partner for wresting away his position as the Face of TNT. This could drive Cage to resume hostilities against Copeland after the latter steps back into the ring.
Should Christian decide to take the fight to The Master Manipulator again, Copeland could find reinforcement from Beth Phoenix. The latter had joined her spouse's battle against The Judgment Day in WWE and could again team up with him to take on The Patriarchy.
This, in turn, could culminate in a mixed tag team bout in which The Grit Couple squares off against Christian Cage and Shayna Wayne. Such a match would see Mother Wayne's AEW in-ring debut, and the latter would be in safe hands working with three seasoned veterans to put on a potentially entertaining performance.
#3: Beth Phoenix challenges Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship
Beth Phoenix was one of several WWE Superstars who laid the groundwork for the subsequent women's "evolution" that led to major changes in how the women's division was booked and presented.
Her initial run in the promotion ended with her departure in 2012, although she made several sporadic appearances since being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017. Unfortunately, Phoenix missed out on the opportunity to face off against several top names from the post-Divas era in singles action, including current AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, due to the timing of her exit.
Phoenix crossed paths with The CEO in 2019 when she teamed with and competed against Mone respectively on an episode of RAW and at WrestleMania 35 in tag team action alongside Natalya. The two women have never gone one-on-one in singles competition.
This could change if The Firebird signs with AEW and pursues Mone's TBS Title. Such a program would significantly elevate The Boss and her championship, further legitimized by the legendary wrestler vying for it.
#4: Beth Phoenix goes after the AEW Women's World Championship
Beth Phoenix has no shortage of accomplishments, having held the Women's Championship thrice and the Divas Championship once during her tenure in WWE. She has worked for the sports entertainment juggernaut for most of her career, and if she does ink a deal with All Elite Wrestling, she will have the opportunity to challenge for the AEW Women's World Title.
Toni Storm currently holds the championship. She is locked in a bitter feud with her former protege, Mariah May. The Timeless One is set to defend her title against the latter at All In 2024. Whoever emerges victorious in Wembley Stadium could be looking at a potential showdown with Beth Phoenix if the latter signs with AEW.
The Glamazon is widely regarded as a legend of the business, and a bout against either Storm or The Glamor over the Women's World Championship would work wonders for the title's prestige and undoubtedly lead to an excellent in-ring display to boot.
It remains to be seen whether Beth Phoenix will be heading to All Elite Wrestling and what the promotion may have in store for fans if she does.
