Earlier today, it was reported that Ricochet could be on his way out of WWE. He has reportedly informed the company of his intention to leave when his contract expires.

The promotion is seemingly set to remove him from storylines, with him losing the Speed Championship to Andrade potentially being the first step.

It remains to be seen where he heads next, but a real possibility is a move to AEW. Several stars in the Tony Khan-led promotion and fans alike have been waiting for The Human Highlight Reel to eventually jump ship.

Here are four things that could happen if he signs with the Jacksonville-based organization.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#1 He may rekindle some old feuds

The RAW star competed in NXT for two years before being called up to the main roster. Some would argue that his best matches in the promotion came on the white-and-gold brand.

One of his most talked-about bouts in NXT was against Adam Cole. At the end of the contest, The One and Only earned his first singles title in the company as he became the North American Champion.

Cole was the leader of the Undisputed Era during the feud. In AEW, he leads a new faction, the Undisputed Kingdom. Ricochet could rekindle his feud with The Panama City Playboy if he joins the company. He could also cross paths with some old foes like Malakai Black and Samoa Joe.

#2 He could emerge as Tony Khan's secret weapon

The Elite has forcefully taken over AEW, but this does not mean that Tony Khan and the rest of the promotion have backed down, as they have consistently hampered the EVPs' plans.

A few weeks ago at Double or Nothing, The Elite defeated four stars who fought for the betterment of the company. But this story is definitely not over, and several performers will likely continue to step up to The Young Bucks.

There is a real possibility of Tony Khan challenging The Elite by uniting several stars who will fight for the promotion. He could pull off a surprise by bringing in Ricochet as a representative of Team AEW. The WWE Superstar has a history of sharing the ring with the Bucks and Kazuchika Okada. Hence, he could be instrumental in taking down the heels.

The Human Highlight Reel has primarily been a babyface throughout his career and could again portray a fan-favorite character in AEW by defying The Elite.

#3 A feud with Swerve Strickland

Moments after it was reported that Ricochet was planning to leave WWE, Swerve Strickland posted a cryptic tweet seemingly aimed at the former.

The AEW World Champion apparently called him out, saying that if he came to AEW, he would give him hell.

The two gained popularity in Lucha Underground when they were known as Prince Puma and Killshot, respectively. They teamed up with each other once in the promotion and also shared the ring on several occasions on the independent circuit.

Ricochet could emerge as a potential contender for the World Title if he heads to AEW. However, Strickland first needs to overcome Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door 2024.

#4 Will Ospreay's dream rematch with Ricochet could finally happen

Outside WWE, one of the most highly anticipated dream matches for Ricochet is against Will Ospreay. In 2016, the two faced off in the Best of Super Juniors tournament, which is regarded by many as one of the best matches of all time in their respective careers.

The Aerial Assassin has been vocal about wanting to face the former NXT Superstar once more in his career, even inviting him to join AEW. Ospreay believes The One and Only needed to remind the public just how good he is inside the squared circle.

This match could end up being an all-time classic if it takes place on a grand stage like All In 2024 in London, England. However, it is unclear when the former United States Champion's deal will conclude and whether he will be open to joining All Elite Wrestling.
