AEW has been run riot by Jon Moxley and The Death Riders, and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. The former Blackpool Combat Club have taken the company hostage, so to speak, and are there to stay.
Ever since rebranding themselves as The Death Riders, they have successfully recruited PAC and Marina Shafir to the group, and they are as intimidating as can be. Despite their smaller frame, the two stars personify what the faction stands for, and they are good for it.
In this article, we will take a look at five such candidates in AEW who could be recruited next by The Death Riders.
Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?
#5. Wardlow could join the group
Wardlow is one star who offered so much yet delivered very little. That is down to booking and also his wretched luck with injuries. He is a former three-time TNT Champion, and it is clear that the talent is there – it just needs to be harnessed.
He is currently out with an injury and can come back anytime. When he comes back, the best thing for him would be to align himself with The Death Riders as their silent giant and gain a lot of traction in the process.
#4. Hook
Hook's rise in AEW has been steady and, given he is just 25 years old, the best part of his wrestling career is ahead of him. During his time in the company, he has had relative success and won the FTW Championship three times.
Despite that, his character has gone stale, and something needs to change. This is where The Death Riders and Jon Moxley can help him. It is clear that despite his diminutive stature he is not afraid to get in there, and that is exactly the kind of profile Moxley will be looking for. Joining the stable will give Hook’s character a refreshing look.
#3. Miro
If there is one star who has been unlucky since last year, it's Miro. He had a good angle with Andrade before the latter left AEW and it looked like that angle would continue with CJ Perry. Since then, things have gone downhill, both professionally and personally.
It was reported in September that he had requested his release from the company. However, nothing has been confirmed yet. He could come back with a different character and join hands with Moxley and The Death Riders to make them even more dangerous.
#2. Ricky Starks
Like Miro, Ricky Starks has been the recipient of some bad bookings. Things have gotten very weird with him not being booked in AEW and also being forced to not compete in different promotions. Tony Khan has maintained that Starks will come back.
If and when he does come back, he could embrace a heel persona and join The Death Riders in his quest to become one of the top stars in the company.
#1. Toni Storm could join The Death Riders
This is totally out of left field but we all know that Toni Storm is due to come back to wrestling sooner rather than later. Her ‘retirement’ seems like a work, and she might be pushed with a character change.
Given that she was so over with the Timeless Toni Storm gimmick, it should not be hard to embrace a heel persona as a part of Jon Moxley’s faction. She will be the only woman besides Marina Shafir in the faction.
