CM Punk and Chris Jericho produced a newsworthy feud in 2012, which led to a great WrestleMania 28 showdown and an even better match at Extreme Rules under Chicago Street Fight rules.

Jericho was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion in 2008 when a young CM Punk unsuccessfully challenged him to a steel cage match. However, the latter's stock skyrocketed, and by 2012, he was the hottest star in the company.

Their 2012 feud was extremely personal as Jericho brought up Punk's past and family, citing his father as being an alcoholic and claiming that his Straight Edge lifestyle was a farce.

This feud was one of the highlights of the year as CM Punk retained his title time and time again, despite Jericho's mind games.
