WWE star Penta made his blockbuster debut on RAW tonight. In AEW, he mostly wrestled as a tag team wrestler alongside Rey Fenix. The duo were known as the Lucha Bros. After having a decent run in the initial years, they weren't involved in any major storylines. Before their deal expired, reports of them not renewing AEW contracts emerged. While Rey is still signed to AEW, Penta became a free agent in November.
The former AEW World Tag Team Champion was rumored to sign with WWE since he entered the free agency. Last week, Chad Gable asked Adam Pearce to book him against the best luchador. Tonight on RAW, Penta came out to answer his challenge. The duo wrestled a classic high-paced match and the debutant picked a massive win in his first contest.
Now that Penta has joined WWE, fans are wondering which AEW stars will follow in his footsteps into the global sports entertainment juggernaut. In 2025, major deals will expire, and some of those stars may or may not stay with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
In this article, we look at some of the stars who could join WWE if they exit AEW this year.

#5. Warldow
Mr. Mayhem hasn't been seen on AEW TV for many months. He wrestled his last match against Samoa Joe in March 2024. However, he stopped appearing on TV after a few months due to an injury. The star was massively over a long time ago but had no momentum while he was a part of the Undisputed Kingdom.
Last year, it was reported that the former TNT champion wanted to leave the Tony Khan-led promotion. If the AEW President decides to release the star, WWE may immediately sign him due to his limitless potential.
#4. Miro
The Redeemer was presented as a powerhouse in AEW. He had an extremely dominating TNT title reign. He hasn't been featured on TV since December 2023. However, he was on a hiatus until 2024 due to injury. Currently, he is cleared to wrestle but hasn't been back on TV due to a creative dispute.
Shockingly, Miro also asked for his release back in September 2024, but his contract expires in 2026. WWE CCO Triple H would likely be highly interested in bringing back Miro.
#3. Ricky Starks
The Absolute has had a tough 2024. He received a massive push on Collision in 2023 but wasn't able to get back on track last year despite winning the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Big Bill. Ricky Starks hasn't been seen on AEW television since March 2024.
Many reports claim that the former FTW Champion will be leaving the promotion once the contract expires in 2025. A dynamic star like Ricky would be a huge draw on Netflix.
#2. Malakai Black
The House of Black leader became a huge asset for AEW when he signed. Later, he dominated the trio's division with Buddy Matthews and Brody King. Despite having huge potential, he hasn't had much chance as a singles competitor recently.
Last week, it was reported that Malakai Black is done with the company and will not return to AEW again. His contract will expire around February and March. After Penta's successful debut, Malakai's return as Aleister Black would be one of the most impressive comebacks, as his previous presentation in WWE was top-notch.
#1. Rey Fenix - Lucha Bros to unite in WWE
If AEW had not added injury time to his contract, the former International Champion would likely have been alongside Penta tonight. The Lucha Bros were a huge act in the Jacksonville-based promotion but cooled as they got lost in the shuffle. His contract will expire this year.
Penta's unique style. Now, many are waiting for the imminent debut of his real-life brother, Rey Fenix. The extremely talented star will instantly become huge in WWE in a very short period. The Lucha Bros' reunion in WWE may also increase competition in the tag team division.
It will be interesting to see which stars will be next to join the Stamford-based promotion in the future.
