#1 Chris Jericho becomes the first AEW World Champion (AEW All Out 2019)
Chris Jericho was definitely the biggest initial signing for AEW. His arrival in the company confirmed them as a major player in the professional wrestling world. He immediately was the biggest star in the entire promotion. At the company's first pay-per-view, Double Or Nothing 2019, Jericho defeated Kenny Omega to qualify for the first AEW World Championship Match at All Out 2019.
Hangman Page was one of All Elite Wrestling's first signings. The former Bullet Club member was seen as a top prospect and a future star for the promotion. At the first pep rally for AEW, Page set his sights and proclaimed that he wanted to become the first world champion in the company. He won the Casino Battle Royale at Double Or Nothing 2019 to qualify for the first title match.
Chris Jericho and Hangman Page traded barbs at one another on the road to All Out 2019. Jericho already considered himself to be the first AEW World Champion since he was the biggest star in the promotion.
Hangman knew that he was preparing for the most important match of his career and said he would ride into Chicago on his horse to take the gold.
The main event started with grand entrances for both men. Hangman Page did, in fact, arrive on a beautiful horse with his parents and family in attendance in Chicago. Chris Jericho came decked out in his lavish leather jacket with spikes to his signature Judas theme. This bout had the big fight feel and felt significant on who would walk out as the first champion.
The contest was well wrestled on both ends, with Hangman Page bringing his A-game and performing at top form in his first main event matchup. Chris Jericho may be up there in age, but he could still perform at an exceptional level. Page came close on many occasions to win with the Deadeye and Buckshot Lariat, but Jericho kicked out.
Chris Jericho reversed one last Deadeye attempt and scored with the Judas Effect to pick up the win. The first WWE Undisputed Champion became the first AEW World Champion.
It was a historical moment that was elevated by what happened following the match backstage. Jericho put a cocky diatribe on the entire roster and coined his Little Bit of the Bubbly catchphrase.
AEW All Out will always be considered a premier pay-per-view due to the event that it was spun off from and how that impacted the creation of the promotion. That is why the company decided to crown their first champion at the first edition, and it is also why Chris Jericho becoming the first AEW World Champion is the best moment in All Out history.
