#3. Jon Moxley vs Finn Balor
While Finn Balor has always been one of the most talented members of the WWE roster, his progress has usually been hindered by a glass ceiling, much like Jon Moxley. Even though he's a popular babyface, WWE hasn't presented Balor as a main event act unless he's wrestling as The Demon.
When the Irishman dons the paint, he's a force of nature capable of running through anyone. The Demon could just be the perfect opponent to take on Moxley in a hardcore match.
While no-holds-barred wrestling can be cringeworthy, Moxley has proven to have a handle on the genre. The former Shield member's unsanctioned match with Kenny Omega had the perfect blend of creative spots, violence and psychology. Moxley and Balor could recreate this magic with a slightly different flavor.
#2. Jon Moxley vs Brock Lesnar
When Jon Moxley was looking to establish himself as a top babyface, the perfect opponent for him would've been Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate was not only one of WWE's biggest stars but his overpowering style also made him the perfect foil for the resilient Moxley.
However, when the former Shield member was granted a street fight with Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, things went awry. Moxley was essentially brushed aside by the former UFC Heavyweight Champion without putting up much of a fight.
Moxley later said that Lesnar was simply uninterested in making their match feel special. If the Purveyor of Violence can channel some of his resentment into a program with Lesnar, the story of Moxley looking for retribution would make for compelling viewing.
#1. Jon Moxley vs Roman Reigns
Jon Moxley and Roman Reigns were brothers in arms when they were part of The Shield. They even remained on good terms after the group splintered despite wrestling each other on a multitude of occasions. However, Reigns and Moxley are now very different characters.
In the time since Moxley departed, Reigns has become Trible Chief and leads his own faction called The Bloodline. He is also one of the most dominant champions WWE has had in many years. Meanwhile, Moxley has found himself as a main eventer in AEW. His character now has more of a serious edge, and he's considerably elevated his level of work.
While WWE has done a tremendous job booking Reigns and preparing him for a program with The Rock, there is no babyface on the roster who can credibly defeat the Georgia Tech product. A returning Moxley would be the perfect opponent to stop Reigns with their shared history adding another layer to the program.
