Malakai Black has come into AEW like a storm. The House of Black leader debuted on the July 7th Road Rager episode of AEW Dynamite in a shocking arrival where he gave both Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes the Black Mass. The Miami crowd was very vocal in their support, which set the tone for the reception he has received every time he comes out to the ring.

Malakai Black and Cody Rhodes took part in a rivalry centered on the light vs. darkness. It led to a showdown between the two men on the August 4th Homecoming episode of AEW Dynamite.

Black faced The American Nightmare in a rematch on the September 22nd Grand Slam episode of AEW Dynamite. Malakai used a distraction and poison mist to once again defeat Rhodes.

It seems like the right time for Malakai Black to move on to bigger and better things in AEW. A feud with Sammy Guevara over the TNT Championship may be exactly what he needs now. Cody Rhodes has a polarizing relationship with the fans thanks to his position and booking of previous rivalries, so Black needs a rival who is a stronger babyface to help him get over as a villain.

Sammy Guevara has cultivated that type of relationship and connection with the AEW fanbase. He started as a cocky, annoying heel apart of the Inner Circle, but his feud with MJF helped the fans to get on Sammy's side and embrace the Spanish God. That's what made his special moment of winning the TNT Championship because the fans have been on a journey with Guevara.
