WWE SummerSlam 2024 is all set to be an explosive event. Many high-stakes matches have been announced for the much-anticipated show, with names such as Gunther, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes set to be a part of the premium live event.
The show will also feature CM Punk's return to in-ring action, as he will take on Drew McIntyre in his first singles match on WWE television in 10 years. After feuding with each other for months, the duo will finally look to settle their scores, with Seth Rollins lurking in the background as the Special Guest Referee. As Cody Rhodes prepares to battle Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2024, fans also expect Roman Reigns to make his presence felt in the bout.
An event known for its big surprises, SummerSlam could witness the arrival of some former AEW stars. Triple H could light up the upcoming premium live event by bringing some prominent names, making The Biggest Party of The Summer even more memorable. Let's take a look at five former AEW stars who could show up at WWE SummerSlam 2024.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
#5. & #4. The Hardy Boyz could confront The Judgment Day
Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy, collectively known as the Hardy Boyz, departed from All Elite Wrestling earlier this year. Although the iconic tag team is currently plying its trade in TNA Wrestling, they are yet to sign a full-time deal with any promotion. The Hardy Boyz might not stay in TNA for much longer, as a move to WWE could be on the cards.
The multi-time Tag Team Champions shocked the wrestling world at WrestleMania 33 when they made their historic return to the Stamford-based promotion after years of absence. The duo could recreate the same magical moment at WWE SummerSlam 2024 by confronting The Judgment Day.
Since winning the World Tag Team Championship, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh have barely been featured on WWE television. The situation could change at The Biggest Party of The Summer when the Hardy Boyz set their sights on The Judgment Day duo.
#3. CJ Perry returns to WWE to help Liv Morgan
In
a surprising turn of events, CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana, was released from AEW earlier this year. The 39-year-old lasted less than a year in the Tony Khan-led company and now hopes for a return to the Stamford-based promotion.
In recent interviews, CJ Perry has expressed her desire to become the female version of Paul Heyman. She aspires to cultivate young wrestling talents, helping them reach the peak of their careers. Perry could resume her services as a manager at WWE SummerSlam by aligning herself with a familiar face.
Perry could help Liv Morgan retain her Women's World Championship against Rhea Ripley. She could take out The Eradicator in this match, allowing Morgan to finish off her arch-nemesis. Perry's arrival will add another intriguing dimension to the storyline involving Liv, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea, which is already one of the most entertaining programs on WWE television.
#2. Arn Anderson could help out Cody Rhodes against The Bloodline
Cody Rhodes has found himself outnumbered against The Bloodline in recent weeks. The dominant faction has taken out Randy Orton and Kevin Owens in the last three weeks, leaving Rhodes all alone in his war against Solo Sikoa.
As The American Nightmare prepares to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa, an unexpected name could come to his rescue against his foes. The name in question is Arn Anderson, who left All Elite Wrestling in May 2024.
The 65-year-old served as Cody Rhodes' unofficial manager when the latter was still associated with the Jacksonville-based promotion. Although Rhodes eventually left the company in 2022, Anderson kept being a mentor figure in AEW backstage till his contract recently expired.
The former member of The Four Horsemen could make a one-off on-screen appearance at WWE SummerSlam to neutralize the threat of Tonga Loa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu. The WWE Hall of Famer could unload a flurry of strikes on the other Bloodline members, causing distraction for Solo Sikoa. An unfocused Sikoa could fall victim to Cody's Cross Rhodes, resulting in a big win for The American Nightmare.
#1. José the Assistant could appear at WWE SummerSlam 2024
José the Assistant was released from AEW in April 2024. He served as the manager of Andrade El Idolo and La Facción Ingobernable in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
The talented manager now hopes to be used more in a wrestling capacity, something he did not get to do much in the Tony Khan-led company. In his recent post on X/Twitter, José teased a move to WWE NXT.
José the Assistant could, however, consider appearing at SummerSlam 2024 before he potentially joins the white and gold brand. He could reunite with his former client, Andrade, who is currently in a rivalry with Carmelo Hayes on WWE SmackDown.
José could take up the role of Andrade's mouthpiece on the blue brand, while he continues to hone his craft every Tuesday night on NXT. Having a familiar face like José the Assistant in his corner will greatly benefit Andrade, who is yearning to break into the main event scene.
