#2 AEW star Shawn Spears
Spears arrived in AEW with a chip on his shoulder, establishing himself as a heel and attacking Cody Rhodes. Since then he has gained the legendary Tully Blanchard as his manager, but his progress has been rather dull.
Spears is an excellent in-ring hand and can provide a good match with anyone. Thus, he could have been a good addition to the tournament, with AEW reminding fans that Spears is supposed to be a dangerous performer.
The Chairman currently finds himself a part of The Pinnacle, a supposedly destructive faction that rarely appears as a unit on television.
#1 AEW star CM Punk
CM Punk is enjoying himself on AEW. His first few matches have seen him take on rising stars such as Darby Allin and Powerhouse Hobbs. His latest saw him face a known veteran in Matt Sydal.
Punk and AEW are facing criticism for their lack of participation in serious rivalries. The former WWE Champion hasn't started his quest for titles yet.
CM Punk would have been an ideal choice for the Eliminator Tournament, in which he would have been a top favorite. A match between Danielson and Punk would have been a must-see, although AEW appears to have saved it for the future.
