AEW has been on a roll for the past few weeks. The last two episodes of Dynamite have been a massive success, resulting in great momentum for the Tony Khan-led company heading into All In 2024.
The upcoming episode of AEW's flagship show feels no less than a major pay-per-view. This Wednesday night will mark the 250th edition of AEW Dynamite, which speaks volumes about how far the Jacksonville-based promotion has come since 2019.
Tony Khan has put together a star-studded match card to celebrate this monumental achievement. While Will Ospreay will defend his International Title against Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), Kazuchika Okada will take on Swerve Strickland in a Champion vs. Champion Match. Additionally, Mercedes Mone will defend her TBS Title against Nyla Rose.
As AEW prepares to celebrate one of its greatest accomplishments, Tony Khan would not want to let down the fans. In this article, let's look at five mistakes Tony Khan must not commit on AEW Dynamite 250:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5. Tony Khan should not make mistakes with two particular matches
As mentioned earlier, the latest episode of Dynamite will feature high-stakes encounters. However, Tony Khan must be careful with how he books the finishes to these matches.
The AEW CEO may have booked himself into a corner by pitting MJF against Will Ospreay on Dynamite. Although none of the two stars can afford a loss at the moment, it must ultimately be MJF who takes the pin in this match.
If The Salt of The Earth defeats The Aerial Assassin on Wednesday, it will significantly hurt the latter's momentum, something that Khan should look to avoid.
Swerve Strickland vs. Kazuchika Okada is another match that has placed Tony Khan in a peculiar position. While it is difficult to predict the winner in this contest, Kazuchika Okada must not go over The Killshot in any circumstances. Having been a dominant champion, Swerve's credibility as a champion will be demolished if he concedes a loss in this match.
#4. Britt Baker must attack Mercedes Mone on Dynamite
Nyla Rosa has answered Mercedes Mone's open challenge for the TBS Championship. The duo will lock horns on the upcoming edition of Dynamite. While The CEO is unlikely to lose in this match, the showdown will help Mone cement her reign as the TBS Champion.
Following their recent back-and-forth, Britt Baker will certainly make her presence felt during Mone's title defense against Rose. After weeks of trading verbal shots, The DMD could fire the first shot by attacking the NJPW Strong Women's Champion on Dynamite.
It would be a huge missed opportunity if The Doctor did not lay her hands on Mercedes Mone this week. A proper brawl could certainly heat things up between the two stars, essentially kicking their rivalry into the next gear.
#3. FTR must not join Team AEW for Blood & Guts
Following a brief hiatus from AEW television, FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) returned to Collision this past Saturday. The duo came to the rescue of Tommy Billington, who was at the receiving end of a beatdown by The Don Callis Family.
The next stop for FTR seems to be AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts, where they would likely represent Team AEW against The Elite. However, Tony Khan must not go with this predictable booking approach.
FTR has been feuding with The New Elite for months. Their rivalry has become incredibly stale, and it's time for some new faces to step up to the tyrant faction.
Considering their recent shortcomings against The Young Bucks, it would be a step in the wrong direction if FTR continues to wage war against the AEW World Tag Team Champions.
#2. Sammy Guevara must not join Chris Jericho on Dynamite
Chris Jericho is all set to host a new edition of his "TV Time" talk show on Dynamite. Having been absent for months, Sammy Guevara is among the few individuals who are rumored to appear on Y2J's show.
However, The Spanish God must refrain from joining The Learning Tree's faction this time around. From the Inner Circle to the Jericho Appreciation Society, Sammy Guevara has always remained attached to a Y2J-led faction in some form.
While it is great to work alongside such an icon, it is time for Mr. Money's Worth to walk out of Chris Jericho's shadow. The former TNT Champion could excel as a solo performer in AEW, which is only possible if he distances himself from the Lionheart.
After a hiatus, Guevara would appreciate a fresh direction for his character rather than becoming Jericho's sidekick again.
#1. Toni Storm must not return on Dynamite
The ending visual of the latest Dynamite episode left the whole wrestling world in a state of shock. Moments after her win in the Owen Hart Tournament Cup Finals, Mariah May turned heel and destroyed the AEW Women's World Champion. The Glamour brutalized Toni Storm in front of the Calgary audience before leaving her in a pool of blood.
Following her shocking betrayal, The Fighting Princess will explain her remorseless actions on this week's Dynamite. While Toni Storm is expected to show up during this segment, Tony Khan should not bring back the Women's World Champion until next week.
Storm should stay off television this week to sell the after-effects of Mariah May's assault. The Glamour must get a proper opportunity to address her motivations, without being interrupted by her mentor.
